Trusting God Part 3: God is Good

In Part 1, we saw trust from the perspective of flesh. Here one’s life is informed by what they have experienced (self) as well as what they perceive by their human senses in the circumstances and situations they find themselves in (fellow humans, environment/world). In Part 2, we saw trust from the perspective of prayer and communion with God. We conclude the trust series by focusing even more on God the Sovereign ruler and creator of all things.

Now, it is God we will always have. It is God who inhabits time and is the beginning and the end. He will always be there and so we are best off trusting him and nothing or no-one else! There is nothing wrong with having experiential knowledge of God. Good experiences foster faith but bad experiences will fester and cause havok in the faith journey compromising one’s ability to trust God.  We never have to worry about good because we originate from a good God and as he is so are we. It is the bad that rocks the boat and therefore has to be dealt with. If your knowledge of God is based on your understanding of life thus far or experiences you will never trust him fully. The bad experiences will redefine God for you and make so much noise it will be impossible to trust him or walk in faith. Yes you will acknowledge his Lordship, yet you will not trust his  will to do you good. We have to understand one thing- the finality of scripture when it says God is good. This is the final truth against a bad past/ experience or present/situation or even perceived future. In it all and through it all, God is Good!

I had a discussion the other day with some sisters and the question that kept coming up is;

“How does a good God allow so much pain and suffering…?”

The discussion went as far as people not getting why suffering even happens to those who have dedicated their lives to serving this God and specifically why the wicked thrive and seem to make it. It became apparent the level of distrust in the God they serve as believers. Now this is not to judge and say believers can’t think like this or express these sentiments. It becomes an issue of reality versus the word of God. How does one believe the word that says God answers when clearly answers are far from materialising. Prayers going up, church every Sunday and disappointment after disappointment. What is one to do? It is even at this point people start dabbling with the occult in the hope for tangible answers and an actual voice of promise.

The answer remains in that same word of truth. There is no promise of an affliction free life in the word of God and certainly no mention of rains not falling on the farms of the wicked. God loves all and that is why he is a good God. He gives to all the opportunity to know him should they so wish. Bitterness birthed in pain, loss and the troubles of life can only steal away one’s peace and opportunity to trust a good God who will remain on his throne, still defined as good whether he is trusted or not. Unbelief will certainly not strip God of his throne or sovereignty. He remains God Almighty the master planner!

Interestingly, it is people that plot scheme and plan against fellow human beings. It is fellow humans that execute their God-given free will to execute wicked plans spiritually or physically thereby harming or hurting others in the process. God gave man the freedom to choose which way they will take. It would seem that in allowing other people to choose to be wicked and letting them be, the good suffer. Well Jesus suffered for all and when we accept him, there is going to be some sort of suffering in which afterwards like Jesus we are rewarded. So here is the deal-

There is pain and suffering in the world. This makes us run to Jesus but there is pain and suffering there too. The difference- Jesus offers peace in the storm and eternal life. He promises to never leave or forsake and then the cherry on top is eternal life.

Sometimes we get so obscessed with the desires of our heart and trust our judgement on those matters that we forget there is a higher power. This is exactly why in his great wisdom, the Lord God Almighty gave us Jeremiah 17:5-6 –

Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

We get so wrapped around our fleshly lusts and so as the above scripture rightly puts it, we fail to see when good comes. The thing is all these earthly plans, contracts, agreements and whatever else pushes us against the wall are “arms of flesh” and they will fail us when we focus on them and forget to trust the person who alone can accomplish them for us- the Sovereign God. Sometimes too he will accomplish it not for us, but for himself. We must have the humility to accept his divine rule in denying us what we may wish for against his own sovereign will. My favourite scripture is Joshua 1:5

There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Knowing that even in the event of the failure i fear so much or the loss or even death or whatever it is that makes us desperate leaving our faces against the wall, he will be with me! He will never leave me! He will never forsake me! If i go high, he is there. If i go low, he is there. If i go under, he is there. So where will i go that the Lord will not be there? If he is there always, therefore shall it be well with me because God is Good. He is the everything i seek. He is here and that is enough for “In him i move and have my being…”

To know this is to trust God. I hope this series has been a blessing as it certainly has been to me just putting it down!

That’s it Conquerors

Trusting God Part 2: Conversations with God

The Role of Prayer in Building Trust

In Part 1, we saw the role of physical things and experiences in informing our level of trust in God. Today we go spiritual in the confines of prayer. Prayer is communion with God. When learning to trust God, one must learn to have conversations with God all the time by reading His word, hearing him speak in between those pages and answering him back in word of prayer. The voice of God is his word. When you read it, take it because he is speaking to you through your reading at that moment. Honour that voice and act on what he says right there and you will build on your trust. It is imperative to remove the whorish mindset of wanting to gain something from that love relationship. He is not a prayer/answer ATM and certainly is disgusted by that attitude too of wanting, wanting and wanting! Afterall he is God and the sooner one realises he will only do what he has purposed to do the better. It will only happen when and how he wants it. You can pray and fast, yet he will still be the one to decide what happens afterwards. Prayer is not God and things do not happen just because you have prayed. Prayer is not the answer. God is. Prayer builds relationship and fellowship. Then God at his appointed time does what he seems fit in his will.  Prayer is conversation with God. Its how we get to know him and build a relationship with him. In prayer we bond with God and build our trust in him. We focus on God and reduce our focus on the world and people. Through prayer and focus on God, we can affect the will of God in that he may end up giving us that which we want as we praise, worship, reason with him, negotiate with him and honour him in it. In MATTHEW 15:28 scripture records,

Jesus gave in. “Oh, woman, your faith is something else. What you want is what you get!” Right then her daughter became well. (MSG)

This is the reason for faith. He can just do it and because we do not know his mind, we have to keep trying by faith and trust in his wisdom, power, ability, goodness and faithfulness.

Trust Compromised

I have encountered some desperate situations in a row over the past few years and one thing i learnt is that Acts 17.28 stands- in him i move and have my being! In him i move and have my victory. In him i move and have my access! In him i move and have my health! In him i move and have my all! I  realised that for the longest time, i was in a rush and the one that was going to do that which i was rushing for was not in any rush at all. By the continued look of things, he was relaxing and i was racing and panting unnecessarily as if i could accomplish anything. If i cannot do it, why am i under so much pressure. Well the pressure was coming from deadlines and plans and all of that stuff that had to be done. From earthly agreements or contracts needing fulfillment, some made willingly by faith and some made in situations that called for them. So we get into all this earthly stuff then try to force the heavenly courts to expedite matters on our behalf and when it doesn’t seem to work because God will only do his will, we think he is not hearing us and our trust or faith is compromised.

So one day i heard a small voice inside say,

“So do you actually think the Lord cannot do this?

I said,

“I know he can but i am having trouble believing that in this case he will do it…

For 1: My mother died on his watch- we prayed, declared, cried and did all we could to save her life. He was able to heal (if it was healing needed) able to deliver (if it was deliverance needed) able to provide (if it was financial provision needed or anything else) but he chose to take or allow to be taken (as he has the final say) even when he knew we still wanted her…how then can i trust him to do this one.

For 2: My nephew Mukundi (MHDSRIEP). Oh dear! Did we not plead for that little life even for ressurrection itself. A blessing celebrated after many years departed within 3 months of birth. So Jesus, the Lord is the resurrection who would not manifest himself when he knew we desired it desperately.”

Aaaa i could see that trusting God was becoming a challenge for me who speaks highly of it. I was quickly reminded by that voice inside of Divine Rule and the Sovereignty of God:

“There is something about your mother’s death and yet again your nephew’s death that is not revealed to you that makes it alright in the wisdom of God for he yet permitted it at that time because he is wise!”

As much as i always fail to comprehend why he would not simply overule all, i must humble myself to his will and fully accept that he could not simply overule himself for me. For who am i in all of this? I am nothing. Again i am nothing without him and it is him i need the most not anyone else! After the depature of my beloved, i still have him and that matters for he saw it fit for it to be that way.

Now, conversing with God requires humility and the attitude of brokenness (nothingness) before his throne. One must come naked and unashamed. Stripped of all power, title, accolade or position and just that soul God created for communion. Often times people confuse the power granted them in the word for that which they can flaunt before God in prayer. A big No! How can we show off what we do not possess by ourselves to the one who gives it? The more we talk with God, the more we are exposed as nothing and humbled. That is the the more we become one with him. The more we blend with him, the more the earth bows to his presence in us. This is how we then rule with him, being in him and of him. Even at that, as in the person of Jesus- he was God but did not equal himself to him while on assignment. He even accepted to be humbled by death on the cross, being spit at and clapped in public. If prayer does not teach you to go down, it will be very difficult for you to go up!

What’s more- the key of Peter in Matthew 16.19

-“And that’s not all. You will have complete and free access to God’s kingdom, keys to open any and every door: no more barriers between heaven and earth, earth and heaven. A yes on earth is yes in heaven. A no on earth is no in heaven.”

Now if there was ever a reason to trust God, this is it! The key gives all access to the believer. Remember that prayer facilitates being one with God so that he as the bigger light and supreme being is more visible and vocal than us in everything. It is in this enlightenment or state of being that even the surroundings which are infact his creation bow down to their maker granting the host free passage in all things. It is God that moves and does things in the body that has made way for him so that, the body enjoys all access having no barrier between heaven and earth. So, a No in his presence is a NO in heaven being qualified by his omnipresence while a yes is a Yes in the same vein!

In this state, one can only trust God as infact they are in a state of oneness with him. This is made possible by communion with him.

Thats it then Conquerors. Join me in the final part of Trusting God- Part 3 as we close by focusing on God and nothing else and that God is Good.

Till then

Trusting God Part 1: Trust No-one!

Trust is the absolute confidence and belief in the reliability of something or someone. It is that confidence that rests our heart and gives us the peace we need for our mental well being and existence so that our lives are meaningful and worth living.

There are so many aspects of walking the journey of faith but trust tops them all. As relational beings, thriving ofcourse on the relationships we make or find ourselves in, trust plays centre stage. In strategic thought management, trust is a major because when we choose to accept Jesus as Lord and saviour, it means we also choose to trust him with our lives. This trust overules trust in fellow human beings. It does not mean that we go around suspecting and distrusting others- for this would be toxic! It simply means that we observe a higher power governing those relationships so that trust in that source of livelihood superimposes any trust in the earth realm. In that way, we can be sure that the earthly relationships we find ourselves in are governed by a higher power who we put all our trust in for the peace and prosperity we need in those relationships. Today i want to discuss trust and look at ways of ugrading our trust as we journey on the faith lane.

Our Past

We are who we are today because of the sum total of our experiences and memories from our past. If we are not making decisions similar to our past to maintain those good experiences and memories or activate other good ones using those same decisions that brought about these memories, then we are working hard to avoid those decisions that created bad memories and experiences in our past. It goes as far as either maintaining the people or dropping the people that participated in the good or bad memories. In some instances individuals may be blacklisted from one’s book of friends or deleted from their social circles as a-never-to-be-interacted with or associated with character again. Need i say more for characters that may be seen to be possessing like traits as those of betrayers, haters, users or heartbreakers from the past.

So our past is what we have trusted thus far -hanging on to what worked and running as far away as possible from what didn’t

Our Present

Our present is where we are now in the journey of life and therefore that of faith. The past happened and while time certainly flies from it, we carry those experiences into the present and future. People usually say past is past but as long as past happened past remains with us in its own way being a reality that can’t actually be erased from history. How we carry the past determines our success in the faith journey. The present is consistent with the current state of our mind and beliefs. As a christian now, the present should now be informed by the Word of God and not the past and its experiences. Where as Christians we allow our thought system to be intermingled with the memories of the past, we actually lean on our own understanding of life thereby disregarding the instruction of the the very word of life we profess to now live by. Scripture says in Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Thus the word of God is true and final and the duty of every christian is to inquire of it for decision making.

So our present is the result of our trust in whatever is instructing our life now- Usually it is the past experiences but must now be the instruction of the Word of God once one’s life has been surrendered to him.

The Future

The future respresents our aspirations, our dreams and our wishes. The future carries our desires just as they are from our perspective but also the actual plan and purpose of God as he would have it. When we embark on a faith journey, we must be prepared to drop the past as a reference point while yet being wise enough to accept all that has happened in our lives or to us thus far. We must have the wisdom to accept our present while yet activating the faith we need to embrace the desired future. We must be bold enough to understand that one reigns and rules over our lives to the point that we can only achieve anything and everything by him- God. Is it health? Is it prosperity? Is it relationships? Yet it is only God who will accomplish it for us. Now this one is the hard part. In a world where seemingly godless people prosper without any atom of belief, christians begin to waver in their faith. It must however be understood that trusting God should never be reduced to a game of ‘trust and get’, ‘believe and receive’. Although receiving may yet require believing, that is not all to it for God loves all to bless even the wicked with rains for his crop! We have never seen the sun rising only for believers- that is how good God is. That is yet how blessings will not depend on faith. What God needs is relationship, fellowship and true worship.

So our future is a forecast of our trust in God as we proceed with our lives after accepting Jesus as Lord and saviour. For the unbeliever past continues to inform their future

In conclusion,

As humans we are challenged by a very vocal past with experiences that a pursuasive in informing our decisions for the present and the future. However as Christians and believers of the Sovereign God, we must have absolute trust in our maker for direction. To trust God is to trust nothing or no-one else but Him and to possess the ability to manage one’s thoughts around hope deffered or hope lost in the confines of His Word, the Truth.

Join me in Part 2 as we look at the role of prayer in building trust in God.

Till Then

Conqueror Tuning: Part 1- Who am I?

Who am I?

Greeting Conquerors and welcome to Episode 1 of Conqueror Tuning. In the introductory post, we defined Conqueror Tuning as, “the process of strategic thought management which brings alignment in the human self so that body, soul and spirit are in insync thereby facilitating victorious living.” To be in existence and be denied rights to the goodness of life e.g love, peace, joy and hearts desires is to be dead while yet living. That is infact being a loser. Nothing works! Nothing materialises! Nothing grows! Failure all around…no-one wants this. We are created by good (God) and coded with good and so anything in our lives that opposes good, upsets the balance and causes internal conflict. Internal conflict is the breeding ground for more death cycles and failure. At this point, Conqueror Tuning becomes a necessity to redeem one from destruction in the confines of the spirit of redemption himself. It is the journey of transitioning one’s mindset from loser mentality to conqueror mentality. Now, it would be impossible to embark on any journey and make it to any destination without a map. The map not only gives a clear picture of where one is going but it also takes that picture from where one is coming from including where they are. To tune self into a conqueror successfully, one needs to know their self map. The self map is made up of one’s past, their present and their future. Obviously the future for most of us who are not prophetic is not known. However we have an idea of who we want to be and what we want in life and that should direct our endeavours. Below we will look at the Strategies of thought management. Today we begin with the self-map. In upcoming episodes we will delve into, spirituality, then body, soul and spirit.

THE SELF MAP (Past, present & Future)

In Conqueror tuning, thought management happens at 3 levels- the past, present and future. The past is the biggest game player. Our past is crucial to knowing who we are so that we can better understand our present and tune ourselves into the conquerors we want to be. The past is the sum total of memories (good and bad), traumas that have left a mark and experiences, disappointments etc. For this work however we zone in on the negative stuff that impacted our life and therefore our thought systems. The reason for this is that as mentioned earlier we are created by good and coded with good. We want all the good stuff so it is the bad stuff or the negative stuff that upsets us and must be dealt with. There is nothing else to do with the good stuff than to enjoy it and cherish the memories. So the past holds everything about us that was and that should have been. This part of our self-map is where our personal knowledge about life thus far is contained. As humans we are in fact what we have believed. What we believe about anything, the personal truths we have formulated while interacting with our environment over the years makes up who we are internally and how we manifest those beliefs in the outside world. As we go about life daily (in the present), we form opinions about everything and everyone our five (5) senses are exposed too. These become our templates for daily living and future response to like stimuli and therefore our personal truths. You can imagine that if your truths have been intercepted by deceit, confusion, frustration, lack, stress or trauma or even overzealousness, pride and lack of wisdom- they would be erratic. For this cause, conqueror tuning helps to identify actual truths and seperate them from personal truths. It becomes imperative to know the real truth versus the personal truth and to transition form those erratic truths (past) that have impacted the present to the winning truths (desired present and future).

You will remember that our aim is to bring body, soul and spirit into alignment. As such it will be impossible to attempt to understand one’s present without referring to their past or attempting to forecast a desirable future. The soul having been in existense well before we (the body) could understand our environment as babies is the main participant in the past. The body’s main domain is the present as it seeks to be a conqueror now rather than later. The spirit is the future as winning depends on our awakening to the spirit. We will deal more about body, soul and spirit in upcoming episodes. As humans we are relational beings and thrive on the relationships we have or those we are able to make. Consequently failed efforts affect us negatively and affect out truths. As we deal with the past and as we try to understand our present self, we focus also on the people that participated in forming those experiences and memories that left a mark in us. The unfortunate thing is that in loser mentality, shutting down the negative or painful past is a way of blocking it or a copying mechanism. If the offenders can be blocked too, even better! If not, yet relations will be based on avoidance or other negative, punitive ways to deal with them like being spiteful, moody or provocative or fake when around them. This means that in their blocked state, past experiences and the characters in them are participating in how the present is shaped or what happens in the ‘now’ of one’s life. A conqueror has it together, commands the past to order and looks ahead while experiencing victory in the present. This is a mindset that is practiced and nurtured over time. Answering the question, “Who am I? becomes the bridge between losing and conquering. Below we look at the journey of finding the answer (s) via inquiry into the self-map.

Who am I?

Now to answer the big question- ‘Who am I?’ There is need for self-introspection. This involves checks in five (5) areas of ones life which will also help in finishing the self-map by looking at the desired future from the past while in the present. These are family, social, educational, financial and religious background. The idea is to know who you are (present), who you have become (shaped by past) and who you want to be (future).

Family Background

We are either born and bred within our blood/biological family or outside of it by extended family or even strangers that become our family by circumstance. Most of our life happens here so most of what should or shouldnt be is here

Social Background

These are the relationships we have formed outside family life e.g friends we picked up along the journey of life including enemies or mere acquaintances.

Educational Background

This has to do with our level of self-development in opportunities granted or not granted us by our parents or guardians or benefactors or even by our own endeavours.

Financial Background

This has to do with our access (or lack of) to wealth by occupation, work or business or family accomplishements

Religious Background

As highlighted in the preceding episode, everyone believes in something and when one is not sure what they believe in, there are usually problems of confusion, frustration, stagnancy etc

When looking at each of these backgrounds one needs to first travel into the desired future and define it. When you can see where you want to be, you can then come back and look at each background and find out the who what, why, where, how of what went wrong and why you are not who or where you want to be. The following questions (on each background) can help clarify things or declatter the innerman

1. What pains, upsets me or makes me angry and why? What disappointed me and what are my regrets?

2. How did things go wrong?

3. Where did the disapointments or heartbreaking episodes happen?

4. Who participated in things going wrong and hurting me

5. Why did these things happen or the people (or self) do what they did to cause you pain.

Finally, decisions must be made on what can and will be changed and what can’t be changed and has to be made peace with. Conquerors do not strive or force matters. It must be noted that the inquistion of a conqueror is never a fault finding, blame placing mission or vengeance action plan. It is a noble quest for wisdom and truth so that victory may settle in.

Thus, as humans we are 3 part beings (soul, body and spirit) existing through a 3 phase life made up of the past (experiences and memories), present (current circumstances) and future (desired life). To seek the good of life and gain access to it is to conquer in life. An ugly past can make an equally ugly present and future if not worse. A conqueror must overcome their past to understand their present and re-write their future. You can not manage your thoughts and experiences for today if the thoughts and experiences in the past are messed up and that means you are not ready for a tidy (organised) future.

That’s it for this episode. Lets meet in Episode 3 as we look at the spiritual aspects of Conqueror living in Conqueror Tuning

You can not manage your thoughts and experiences for today of the thoughts and experiences in the past are messed up amd that means you are not ready for tidy (organised) future.

That’s it for this episode. Lets meet in Episode 3 as we look at the spiritual aspects of Conqueror living in Conqueror Tuning

Conqueror Tuning: Introduction

Greeting Conquerors!!!!

I trust these greetings find you conquering and moving on in victory.

Welcome to Season 1 on The Conquerors Channel. I titled this season Conqueror Tuning.

Conqueror Tuning is the process of strategic thought management which brings alignment in the human self so that body, soul and spirit are in insync thereby facilitating victorious living. I dedicate this season to all those who are interested in spirituality and those who find themselves confused about religion. Let me just say this- In conqueror-talk, religion is key! Everyone has some what a religion that propels them directly or indirectly. I say this because we have a generation or class of people who hate the word religion and claim to be non-religious. However the human person locked inside the body we see is very much religiously oriented being spiritual, originating from the unseen and therefore spirit. So when someone says they are not religious what they are simply trying to say or do is that they are their own god, running their own show. Nothing else is good enough or worthy of that trust so they will give it up for self and self alone. To me, that is still religion!

Religion is basically what we believe for guidance, protection and sometimes even gifts of a spiritual or physical nature. For most ‘religious’ people the belief is centred on another being or power believed to be powerful or higher than self. To the ‘non- religious’, all this trust is put on self and they navigate life based on that belief in self. This is also refered to as faith. Now faith is a matter of personal convictions, opinions, mindsets and experiences put together. Its how one chooses to interpret their surroundings and decode information coming in through the senses – touch, smell, sight, hearing and taste. That information is used to form personal templates for life as it concerns those experiences and like ones that may follow. One therefore prepares themself for what may come.

What is a Conqueror?

A conqueror is one who overcomes or wins in battle. Usually this comes with taking territory by use of arms or superior weapons. Now if you have been in this life long enough to be reading this, you will know that life is about survival and survival of the fittest. Survival goes beyond breathing. It encompasses living well, being able to get ahead in your domain. As it were, life involves many battles for survival- Can you eat? Can you feed your own? Can you make a home? Can you move from point A to point B? Can you rest? Can you build and sustain relationships, establishments, endeavours etc etc. All these are questions (battles) that must be answered (fought) daily as we need to replenish our armoury (physically or spiritually) and stay standing. This is what conquering is about. May i mention here that because we are human and learners in discovering the earth we didn’t create, even conquerors will lose sometimes. However the difference between a loser and a conqueror is that the conqueror loses victoriously. This is because conquerors will have trained themselves to RISEUP after taking the hit and move on !

Virtues of a Conqueror

There are certain virtues that will separate conquerors from losers. These are defining attributes and characteristics. While it is possible to have all of them, life is basically the battle of putting them on at all times. Most people possess a little or all of these attributes but seldomly ever manifest them and this makes them losers. Knowledge doesn’t help anyone except when applied. It is the discipline of practicing and applying these virtues that will grow your conqueror bar and ensure more victories for you in your battlefields.

Love

Love is a biggest virtue and attribute of a conqueror. A conqueror loves, loves and loves. A conqueror does not discriminate or make choices against others because of religion, race or tribe etc. It is as simple as One Love and that’s just the way it is. I have been honest from the beginning that The Conquerors Channel is for all. I am proudly and confidently Christian. In the language of One Love, i accept and respect brethren from across religions as i expect the same love and respect back. The business of judging is the creator’s own. Ours is to love!

Joy

Conquerors are joyous and joyful people. They seek happiness and pursue it, loving environments that promote freedom of expression. Expressions come in all sorts of ways from music and arts to work, philanthropy and ministry. The things we spend time doing should bring emotional rewards with them apart from physical benefits. In that is the virtue of joy! However in the world we live in, joy is never left unchallenged by sadness. This negative force can often ride on wrong decisions, wrong friendships, wrong thoughts amongst other wrongs and errors or even misforunes of life.

A conqueror then standsout by learning from what went wrong and acknowledging it’s rightful place in their life not as a bitter memory but as a turning point towards real wisdom which brings joy. As a conqueror, accepting that life is not always about getting what we want and how we want it is priceless wisdom! Knowing when to celebrate defeat, when to close a door and when to walk away can often be the most silently joyous and victorious moments!!!!

Peace & Temperance

Conquerors are peace lovers. Peace brings joy while the spirit of love actually fosters peace. Although conquerors are fighters and always on the battlefield, there are not out to destroy others, property or community. They build! They shun disorder and violence! They are not temperamental and their battles are more fought on the spiritual front. It’s an understanding that they have of the laws governing existence- which knowledge everyone must seek and find and unfortunately not everyone has.

Longsuffering & Meekness

Longsuffering is an important virtue that conquerors must have. It is the ability to tolerate the excesses of those that oppose, offend or cause havoc in one’s domain. It goes along with the gift of meekness springing also from an endless well of forgiveness. It calls for a high level of patience which comes with deliberate and intentional practice in pursuit of victorious living. While losers thirst for vengeance because they don’t see beyond their pride and pain, conquerors on the other hand understand that what goes around must surely come around so they don’t soil their hands with revenge. In their meekness, they leave it and wait for the laws of existence to bring justice.

Gentleness & Goodness

Conquerors are not rowdy, rough people. The love, peace, patience and joy backing them makes them gentle. It is difficult for conquerors to upset others intentionally. If it happens (as conquerors are human) humility that goes with ‘one love’ pushes them to admit wrong and make things right or attempt to, the other side permitting. Walking away may sometimes be the most reasonable thing to do for conquerors. It is not an act of cowardice as some may often think it is. It may be the only way to preserve peace in one’s life in the face of repeat offenders.

Wisdom

Last but certainly not least is wisdom. Wisdom is the guiding knowledge and prudence that Conquerors possess. Conquerors have a great thirst for knowledge coupled with a deep willingness to learn. They are prepared to learn something new anywhere, anyhow and through anyone. Because they are not discriminators, they dont judge the book by its cover ever! With wisdom, conquerors are in the right place at the right time doing the right thing and getting the rewards of all that- CONQUEST!

Therefore, when one pursues all these virtues that push towards goodness as they themselves pull from goodness, they begin to conquer in their battles. Ideally everyone wants to attain this state of mind. Its like tuning in to the right frequency for a radio station. If you dont get it right, you will not enjoy anything that radio has to offer but its there. While some have come across the wisdom needed to get ahead, they simply don’t manage to apply the knowledge because of personal lusts, selfish desires or absence of virtues. Others can’t be bothered to ask questions or look for answers and simply take bullets unawares on the battlefield they don’t even know exists. Sadly too, there are yet others who come across ill-knowledge that fights all good but is wrapped up in solutions for self then they end up in ruin.

So in this season of Conqueror Tuning, our aim is to bring an awareness to the need for virtue in mankind so that we all live victorious lives in peace and joy. There has to be unity ‘within’ the whole self to enable victory ‘without’. When everyone is out there fighting physical battles because of how they see the world, one’s good can easily turn out to be another’s evil and when every one is seeking revenge or retaliating, then we have chaos and a bunch of self sabotaging losers. With wisdom and virtue, losers may be transformed into conquerors both self aware losers and those who pridefully walk around as conquerors when they are just bullies.

That’s it then for today,

Join me again in the next post as we start the first episode on Conqueror Tuning- Who am I?

Till then

The art of  Declarations Part 3:  Guidelines to winning by Positive Declarations

Greetings Conquerors!

Welcome to the final part of the positive declarations series.

Today we look at the actions guiding the declaring process but before that here are a few tips…

Important facts to note about declarations:

Mood

Declaring the things you want sets you in the mood for expecting them. Yes, after thinking it and wanting it, declaring seals the deal. Unfortunately if declared from the flesh, it will never be achieved. The declaration must be conceived in the mind and then nurtured by the spirit so that the body can recieve it at the end of it all.

Expectation

Expecting the things you want, sets you in the mood for receiving them. It creates the right atmosphere for waiting too. Once you can see it internally, then waiting is fueled by the end game you see. There is power in imagination!

Worship

Declaring is not a god or is it God and does not play the part of God or replace the sovereignty of God so do observe his Sovereignty and Lordship while in the mode of declaring things. Most people make the mistake of assuming the place of God and thinking because they have assumed it they have the power to make things happen. All power belongs to God and anything that will happen will happen by his YES to it.

Habit

Declaring is exercising your spiritual body, putting it into shape and like physical exercise no day is easy. To get up and exercise each day consistently will require deliberate effort and discipline. After 1 month of doing it everyday, it can become a habit. However this doesnt mean it becomes easy to do it. It remains to one to keep to it each day by pushing oneself to do it.

Atmosphere

Declaring creates an atmosphere around you that will soon overwhelm all other contending forces ever present. There are forces of good and bad. Making good declarations awakens messengers of good and infact because God is good, everything answers to him. In the spirit of goodness, things align and give way. They are all conditioned to hear God, God is Good and is in all good therefore he is within good declarations

Counter Declare

Declaring counters other declarations on your life by other beings whether physical or spiritual. There are ongoing heard or unheard declarations on your life whether you believe it or not. Refuse to be OUTDECLARED by the opposition whose only declaration on your life is centered on “to kill, steal and destroy” (John 10:10).

Now lets take a look at the background to positive declaration

The Action
To start the business of positive declarations, the mindset must be focused on God the doer.

Make up your mind that:

He is God Sovereign

God the maker of all things, God above all things, God in charge of all things including good and evil. In maling declarations, one fights thw evil of ugly experiences in the past. It is important to understand that the evil things that happened to one, happened under his sovereign watch and so one should cease to own them because a higher power- God allowed them for his own purpose. Henceforth, divine decisions must be honored and so every bit of the pain, every challenge, every problem and all wounds must be surrendered to him the creator, master planner and owner of it all.

Declare the word of the Sovereign God.

The earth and its fulness are his. The things we require are in the earth that belongs to him. Nothing more can command those things or call them forth than his pure word. Nothing else compares to the power of his word and the things that belong to him know this and salute him (and his word). There will be nothing more they can bow to than his word that you will speak provided you speak it in agreement with God himself. In declaring his word, the purity of it, he is looking on it, hearing it and seeking to perform it and will do so. He remains faithful to his word alone which he exalted above all else.

Here are a few examples of scripture you can begin to meditate on and speak and you listen to God inside speaking those words to you.

  1. Isaiah 67:1 If he says he shall give me double for my trouble, i move from mourning to expectation of more than i previously had
  2. Psalm 138:8 He shall perfect that which concerns me
  3. Proverbs 3:25 He is my confidence even in the face of a threat, i will not be agraid of sudden fear
  4. Isaiah 44:26 He will confirm my word as his servant
  5. Psalm 35:9 The Lord delivers me from all afflications though they be many
  6. 2 Corinthians 8:9 He became poor that i may be rich
  7. Phillipians 4:9 The Lord shall supply all of my need according to his riches in glory
  8. 1 Corinthians 10:13 Though i face temptation, He will make a way out
  9. Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the Lord makes me rich and he adds bo sorrow with it
  10. Psalm 32:7 I am surrounded with songs of deliverance by God

That’s it then Conquerors! Positive declarations henceforth

One love

The art of Declarations Part 2: Losing to Gain

Dear Conquerors,

I trust this post finds you well. In Part 1 of the journey to making fruitful declarations we covered a brief history of this facet across religion and culture and found self-righteousness to be the major hindrance to a meaningful life of calling things that are not into being.

Today we look at some guidelines to achieving results for the words we speak. It is a fact that words are powerful but have you ever wondered why your negative words seem to prosper more than your positive ones in achieving anything you want? The simple answer is that evil is very good at capitalising on any of its own words and God being sovereign will not move on words of a double standard origin. This weakness is best potrayed in the text of scripture below;

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

(James 1:6-8 KJV)

It is thefore important to make sure that one is united in themselves- body, soul and spirit to achieve what they declare. If the spirit is pushing for it (as it naturally knows what it deserves) and the soul is denying it by the action of the body or the pressure thereof, then we have a major problem. The body whose senses are decoding messages from the environment  must be brought to subjection first and align with what the spirit sees so that the soul can think it, imagine it, perceive it and then declare it to manifestation in unity with God, the doer himself. If the body is sending negative messages, the soul will make negative decisions even when the spirit wants positive things. The spirit belongs to God and is loaded with good but cannot impose that goodness on a soul being housed in a nody that is subjected to much rejection and negativity. This is how one can speak positive from the spirit (the good it wants) while the soul is full of negative because of the bodily experiences thus far. This conflict will only be disastrous until the spirit is given his place. This is typical of confused people- people who are not sure where they stand because they want a bit of both worlds. As seen in James 1:6 above, these kind of people will never achieve anything. In the things of God you are either with God or not. Any business conducted on the centre or the fence is considered ungodly and evil business anyway. A total waste of kingsom time!  People set aside for spitting according to Revelations because they are lukewarm and not hot!

To get into the zone where there is unity between body, soul and spirit one must lose some rights in the earth realm in order to assume them in the spirit realm. This is infact choosing the spirit over the body, life over death.  In the book of Matthew 10:39, Jesus teaches that, “He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” Therefore the only way to actually ever gaining something is by losing it first. All of this is spiritually done in the innerman. However, sometimes we are actually stripped down to zero in real life before we begin to rise up as often experience is the best teacher! Unfortunately some people even when they are on zero, refuse to accept it (an act of pride) and this hinders the process of rising up as they look for all kinds of scapegoats for their troubles. Some even mistake pride for refusing to give up. There is a difference between giving up and and surrendering to a higher power.

If you can lose everything, then you are ready to make considerable gains in this lifetime. You empty yourself and make way foe the Holy Spirit of God to fill you. The Holy spirit has 7 expressions which can be seen in Isaiah 11:1-3

Lord

Counsel

Understanding

Knowledge

Fear of God

Strength

Wisdom

These are not in any particular order but i have discovered that if we can lose the following rights in the earth realm,  we can prepare our minds to receive the Holy Spirit in the manifestations above and then be able to agree with him in the things we declare which he will by his own power bring to pass.

LOSE YOUR RIGHTS

1. Lose your right to POWER and being in control- All power belongs to God. Lose your guard, be vulnerable, submit and never ask ‘why me?’ He is the potter and you are the clay. Where ever you are, he is there and if you know he is God, then you behave in his presence by being humble. No pride! This is war and in the presence of our superior commander, we behave! To lose the right to power is to gain the presence of the Holy Ghost.

2. Lose your right to BE RIGHT – He justifies you. Once you find yourself under pressure to have a say or explain yourself to others, you have already lost to them. Just surrender and leave it to God. It takes humility to reduce yourself to nothing, to a point where you do not have the say that you think you are entitled to. There is always an itching need to be heard, to justify self or to prove that one knows better or is right. Sunmitting to God makes all this unnecrssary as one is assired in Gods suoreme jutification and ability to act at his appointed time. To lose the right to be right is infact to receive the Holy Spirit of Counsel.

3. Lose your right to COVER– Come clean with God for he sees all and knows all, be naked and unashamed before him who died for your sins. Be truthful and accept that you are not perfect. This is where you stop looking at why other people are or seem to be getting away with all kinds of sin or wrong doing and mind your own repentance & spiritual biz. To lose the right to cover is to gain the Holy Spirit of Understanding and to be free from the pressure of keeping up appearences or menpleasing.

4. Lose your right to ‘I KNOW lT ALL’- be foolish as is alluded to in 1 Corinthians 1. As humans we are limited and clueless when in the presence of the infinite and undescribable God. He is the all in all and you can never know it all because his ways are past finding out (unsearchable). He is always there and everywhere so that makes you nothing in his presence. To lose the right to know it all is to make way for the Holy Spirit of The Fear of the Lord which is infact according to scripture, the beginning of all wisdom.

5. Lose your right to REVENGE -lose the right to self protection. God fights for you.  Vengeance is mine says the Lord. Thus, theres no point to stay angry if the anger won’t do anything for you…To lose the right to revenge is to receive the Spirit of Strength. There is more power in maling way for God to avenge than in seeking vengeance in our limitted human mind and body. The God to whom everything belongs will most certainly know where to hit to get the vengeance  that is needful.

6. Lose your right to RELEVANCE
– you are nothing without God, define yourself only in God and be fully armoured in him. In him you have relevance. In the world you don’t. To lose the right to relevance is to gain the Holy Spirit of Knowledge. When you know God, you stop worrying about being seen or known because it is God who has to be seen. An inferiority complex festers where there is no knowledge of God because then one is consumed with fame or putting themselves out there and making a name for themselves in vanity.

7. Lose your right to ENTITLEMENT
Physical or spiritual blessings and hearts desires are from God who created everything and owns everything. It is he who blesses as he wants and according to his purpose. To lose the right to entitlement makes way for one to receive the gift of the Spirit of Wisdom. In Proverbs 8:18-19, Wisdom declares;

Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

Now that we have made way for the Holy Spirit by losing our rights to anything, self or world proclaimed rights alike, we can now move on to be God-like and have the Holy Ghost manifestations of his Lordship, counsel, understanding, knowledge, fear of the Lord, might and wisdom. This is because our hearts become conditioned to walk in the purity and power of love which conquers all things. As he is, so are we (1 John 4:17)

Join me in Part 3 as we conclude this series by getting into the action of making positive declarations

Till then,

Remain Blessed

One Love

The art of Declarations Part 1: Background to Positive Declaration

My Conquerors! I greet you!

Today i’m on the subject of declaration or positive declaration or affirmations or confirmations as they are often so called.

So many people have prospered through this important spiritual weapon while many others just stumbled and fell never to rise again. There are positive quotes sold even on social media, the market place etc which shows just how crucial this aspect of using our mouth to speak good is.

History of Declaring

Declaring has been there for ages, practiced fervently by different cultures and religions and one thing this facet has in common across boards of different belief systems is faith –

1. Calling those things that are not as though they already are

2. Faith in a higher unseen power

3. Use of a medium of connection e.g water, salt, stones, machira, mudzimu, idol or word of God (unseen Christ)

People usually arrive at destination ‘positive declarations’ when they encounter challenges that threaten their livelihood especially if these stumbling blocks are stubborn. As challenges or hindrances intensify, the heart is split amidst the confusion and that tends to temper with one’s faith. Usually people backslide under the pressure or seek help. In seeking help, the idea of speaking or making positive declarations usually comes up. Positive declarations however will not work on their own. It will be pointless to wake up everyday and make utterances that one has not purposed to believe or yet live.

Before one begins the journey of using their mouth to craft a new future, they have to have an understanding of how they arrived in the pithole in the first place. We are interactive beings and anything that is wrong in our lives is wrong because someone did something or didn’t do what we expected them to do. This includes self or God. This means at any point that we have no peace inside, we have not made that peace with the blamed fellow human being or God). So, it usually it has to do with the seeds one harbours in their innerman. The seeds in the heart (spiritual) grow trees outside (physical) and sometimes these trees take so long to become visible that by the time they are seen, the owner of the tree has no clue how the tree arrived. It becomes even impossible to see the root of the tree once it has grown so with all the prayer, fasting and service in church one is often left confused and heartbroken as to why they can’t seem to get ahead. The trees we have are the antenna that attracts good or bad to us. There is no doubt that because of our sinful nature, we have both trees. It is the growth of the tree that should be our concern. Is your evil tree ouliving your good one? Are you more inclined to evil than good? Do you water the tree of sin more than the tree of righteousness? I couldnt have said it more blunt! Pain, rejection, anger, bitterness and unforgiveness should ring a bell here versus peace, love, joy, unity and meekness etc -the fruits of the spirit according to Galatians 5:22.

These are the deadly big 5 which can be conceived and harboured in secret and yet unfortunately manifestation of fruit knows no secret. Now with forces of evil and good hovering above us unseen, your trees determine what rests and what is executed in your life. Scripture talks of vessels of honour and vessels of dishonour (2 Timothy 2:20-21). If God made ALL things then evil and good are under him to accomplish his glory over all things. The demonic can wag their tail but God got them all under his full grip. So as it concerns the child of God, God will keep his sworn word to mercy and truth. His grace will prevail. This must be the basis and anchor of a believer’s positive declaration only as care is taken to water the right tree.

As humans, we were created with the ability to search out matters. Infact God requires us to do so, that’s why nothing just happens and that is also why although he is known as the merciful God and faithful God too, he will not spoon feed us into our blessings. He has made provision for them, now remains for us to pursue the blessings in the maze, solve puzzles and win prices- all with his help. This is why the bible refers to us as ‘stewards of God’s mysteries'(1 Corinthians 4:1). Now because of wickedness, it was impossible to lay everything out in the open and so God simply preserved it for those who would seek his voice and hear it (John 10:26-27).

The Confusion

Once upon a time i found myself wondering whether God even existed or cared. I could not understand the happennings in my life nomatter how good i tried to be. One day a secret was revealed to me. I wasn’t as good as i thought i was or made myself to be. It was a hard truth but i was determined to face it and make every effort to do right by God and by me. Afterall, with all of ‘my goodness’ my life was a mess! I thought to myself, “i have surely failed, i know nothing and can do nothing by myself.” This signaled total surrender to a higher power. For me it was God through surrender to Jesus Christ as Saviour. I didn’t know him but i knew myself- the failure! I formatted my ‘corrupt hardrive’, yes! I coudn’t take this journey with all of my rotten knowledge and limitted understanding of life, the world and myself. The feeling and thought that God didn’t care for me at all had to be erased. Ofcourse this mindset is staged by the opposition and so all is in order for the demonic while this is still in place. This brings me to the subject of self-righteousness. I want to talk about this because positive declarations are either made or killed in the area of righteousness. In the righteousness of God (as righteouness has been intended), they prevail, in the rot of self- righteousness, nothing materialises. But what is self-righteousness?

Self-Righteousness

So when i came to the knowledge of God, it was like i had now found the treasure. ‘All those people that hurt me were gonna see me now’ so i thought! Big mistake! The journey was never supposed to be about me but about God. When i made it about me i entered the phase of self-righteousness.

Self-righteousness is when individuals see themselves as right before their own eyes and may even force these ideals on others. It is birthed as a copying mechanism or the idea of self protection after a series of heartbreaking events in life so these kind of people are usually wounded soldiers. They are fighters who think they are now in charge after accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour but neglect to workout their salvation afterwards. Unfortunately this is a perversion of power as power only ever belongs to God (Psalm 62:11; 1 Peter 5:11) and it is HIS righteousness that matters. Self-righteousness is the spiritual rot that hinders people from humbling themselves before God unknowingly and for this reason some people will be in church for years and never know the day of blessing because the wrong tree is growing more than the right one. Eventually most quit and go and find solutions elsewhere (drugs, occult, quick money schemes like prostitution or crime etc). Self-righteouness is infact pride, when one’s spirituality is self defined and not God defined. This is how people end up working in church or doing a lot of religious business that has nothing to do with God himself but either themselves or the people or church they work for. Here people get obscessed with outward holiness to a point that they are blinded by that self-righteousness and forget how cold or rude, angry, bitter, unforgiving, mean, or stingy etc they may actually be to others. They don’ t want to ever see themselves in this light and so they do not see it and when people try to point it out they cry “don’t judge” meanwhile, the wrong tree prospers! God and sometimes even world sees them as they are but they don’t see themselves and infact all their acts are quite justified in their books. In worst case scenarios, the self-righteous are ‘so right’ that no one sees the hidden rot inside. These are the worst kind and sadly the fruits will never lie. In speaking about false prophets, Jesus said you shall know them by their fruits. The same can be said of the self-righteous. Apples don’t fall from thorn trees. The self-righteous have their faith based on works and it hinges on doing right and looking right. Unfortunately, as long as we are human, we will never be holy before God yet we must pursue holiness. Faith in self activates constant failure which then makes them bitter or angry unawares against those people who keep producing negative effects (feelings or actions) in them.

Further, it is only by the blood of Jesus that we have ever been counted in and not our works and work we must. The very act of putting faith in works is idolatrous no wonder the whip is already on their backs and they don’t percieve it and watch that faith is not transfered to positive declarations and not to God. Moreover, the self-righteous have a weakness of putting faith in other things that are their own creations or their own choice. They play safe incase they get hurt or disappointed e g they make or do the works, so they trust them; they choose their pastor so they trust him; they choose their friends if they have so they trust them. Now they did not make God and they don’t see him physically so it will be difficult to trust him even though they love the idea of worshipping him and occasionally they claim that they trust because that is the right thing to do yet all this is made manifest to God. In essence they like to trust own self because they have been let down a lot and can’t trust anyone. So unfortunately with the declarations, they will not achieve anything but feel a good relief with no substance. Its like a marriage without intimacy, yes there is love but there will be no fruit.

So the day that i realised that i have been carrying a load of rot within while professing a showing holiness outside was a day of reckoning. There was no good fruit in my life because i was a stinking anger tank carrying a lot of bitterness and baggage from the past but believing that i had dealt with it and moved on. The fact is, i was corrupt inside and the fruit was corrupt outside (Matthew 12:33). I further realised how i had thought i had arrived all this time and yet i had not even began. Interestingly the word declares,

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall”

1 Corinthians 10:12

In the whole of Chapter 10, i located myself and began to understand that you can be so religious that you think you are standing when you are actually falling. I am forever grateful for that day and the mercy of God and trust that this testimony will shed some light in your own life and mark the beginning of a new era as this discovery made mine.

That’s it for today Conquerors, thank you for reading this post!

Join me in Part 2 as we conclude this series and look at guidelines to winning by positive declaration as well as pursuing the righteouness of God

Till then
