Greetings conquerors, welcome once again to riseupconqueror.com

The challenge of today’s christian is the ever intensifying warfare between good and evil and the deception to fight the war that was won or continuosly make declarations to the devil as if to beg him to let go. Many times christians are confronted with the reality-on-the-ground of demonic activity versus their covenantal rights so declared and prophesied. Sometimes misfortune is so apparent and so confusing e.g all girls in the family divorced, never married or single mothers; all girls in the family married but no children or in abusive or unhappy marriages; all boys not married; all boys not successful in life etc. With such traits, even outsiders begin to raise eye-brows much to the discomfort of a christian caught up in this. Worsestill, sometimes myths and beliefs accompany such occurences e.g in this part of the world, when girls are not getting married, the prophet or seer seldomly ever goes without pointing a finger at one paternal aunt or other. Sometimes too, there is vocal manifestations of the aunt or other relative speaking and declaring their evil so committed. How does a christian who has received such a prophecy proceed in victory, in love or in strong belief? How do they carry on in faith when faith seems to be a thing for the mouth to confess only but not the actual life to be experienced? How does one bring balance to their world in which while reaching out for good, evil abounds, while in pursuit of love, hate follows them as if to swallow them and while reaching out for faith, fear of the unknown makes it impossible to believe even when they declare that they do?

It is no secret that the demonic knows the rules of the spirit and that the rod of the wicked is a negative emotion away. There’s a thin line between love and hate so much that sometimes when people are walking in hate, they are not aware because they have been schooled to walk in love and believe they are. The thin line between love and hate has basically extended to other tenets of life e.g fear and faith, good and evil, belief and unbelief. I mean, people can become so religious that only their actions will prove which part of the coin they actually belong too concerning these. There is a breed of christians that are so religious that it takes one good provocation to bring out their true colours. It is also unfortunate that in the sin of self-righteousness, one may never know the negative emotions they harbour. Most times too, people only ever manifest their evil too far from their christian colleagues that those acts may never be associated with them. These are the challenges that make the gospel seem like it doesn’t work and people are seen chasing one deliverance ministry to the next in confusion and sometimes even dabbling in the occult without full knowledge of what they are doing. God specifically mentions how his people are pushed into captivity because they lack knowledge (Isaiah 5:13). This same captivity has given birth to a breed of prophets that are false, seers, diviners and seducing spirits as the people of God itch for a word that could set them free.

This is where deliverance comes in. It has become a hot topic in christian circles today. This has become a carefully designed strategy of the enemy to get the people of God intangled in religious acts that have nothing to do with God! This way, the devils agenda is furthered right in the confines of the church. A look at biblical text shows that deliverance was an act of God in which he sent a deliverer everytime his people cried unto him. In everycase the background of these cries for help were birthed out of hardship and challenges of various degrees. Most times too these challenges could be traced back to times of disobedience and idolatry. According to scripture, the last deliverer to be sent was Jesus himself;

And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,
“The Deliverer will come from Zion,
he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”;
“and this will be my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.”

(Rom 11:26 — Rom 11:27 ESV)

God foreknew that mankind would sin and ordained a plan for redemption at the foundation of the world. This final plan means that no flesh can redeem an individual from evil except for the Lord Jesus who before he gave up the ghost on the cross declared, “It is finished!” (John 19:28-30). The governing rules are that christians are sojourners in this world, seated in heavenly places in Christ and ruling with him.

Now, the challenge for most individuals in the body of Christ however is adopting the newlife. It is no easy thing changing in a world where certain rules apply to get things done. Few have been able to comprehend the idea of putting on new clothes after being born again. Unfortunately, without new clothes or infact the right clothes that are fit for the wedding they are called to, most christians find themselves being thrown into outer darkness (parable of the wedding feast- Matthew 22:1-14). The suggestion put forward in this parable is quite straighforward. The experience of being invited to a feast and then being cast out into darkness speaks of a life in which access is denied, there’s no vision or knowledge of where one is going. When one cannot see where they are going, they either knock their head on anything from walls to trees and then ofcourse falling every now and then. Clearly this is a life of confusion and as such dispair can lead one to cryout for deliverance. Sadly this is the state of affairs for many christians and some have quit the walk because of spiritual confusion and conflict.

Join me again in Part 2 as we look at some of life’s problems and how these sometimes lead to the search for deliverance

Greetings Conquerors, welcome to this final part of the series on Other gods. In part 2 we discussed the existence of other gods in ancient and biblical history.

Sadly although the people may refer to them as gods, by nature they are not gods as scripture says in Galatians 4:8

“Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.”

The fact of the matter is that the soul naturally yearns to worship its maker and the spirit of God inside hungers for its source. The devil manipulates this void to feed unsuspecting and ignorant individuals with various expressions of seemingly deity beings so that the people of God are lured into idol worship. When power is manifested in acts of witchcraft, healings, magic and prophecy the ignorant are quick to associate this with God, infact with the presence or absence of God. Afterall there is evidence of the supernatural! It becomes hard for a christian who is walking in the shackles of bondage in witchcraft, misfortune, cycles of rejection or poverty etc to adopt the simplicity that is in Christ. The real crunch of the matter is that strongholds in the mind based on the deceptions of the evil one do not die in a days work. So man that is learning to walk positively in love, good, faith and belief in God faces negative forces in hate, evil, fear and unbelief right on the flip side because the line is thin. Where a christian may think they are on the postitive lane, they may findout after many wasted years that they have been much on the flipside entertaining fear, evil, hate, and unbelief unknowingly necessitating the assignement for demonic torment or oppression.

Moreover man finds it hard to believe in the absolute love of God which is simple and always tries to seek means and ways of gaining and acquiring this love which is freely given. The demonic entities that pause as gods are very good at manipulating man into believing that his efforts at worship and service to them are rewarded with power, rank and promotion, attaining certain levels of religiousness. It is no secret that pride and power are the epitome of these anti-christ religions. Unfortunately this mindset has taken the church by storm.

When talking to the Galatians, Paul questions why they have gone back to their old ways, to the beggarly elements and spirits of bondage (Galatians 4.9). He asks “Oh ye foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you”. Two things are significant here, 1. Foolishness 2. Witchcraft. Evidently, foolishness opened the door for witchcraft. Withcraft is spiritual manipulation and here the Galatians are in a state of being manipulated spiritually because they do not have the right wisdom. They depend on demonic wisdom which is foolish and obtained from diviners, charmers, mediums and observers of times, wizards, necromancers, enchanters, witches, sorcerors, astrologers or fortune tellers etc (Deuteronomy 19.14; Deuteronomy 18:10-14; Isaiah 8:19; Leviticus 20:6). This is the forbidden worship of the created/creation instead of the creator (Romans 1:25). Sadly, the actual fact is that creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God (Romans 8:19). What’s worse is that like many Christians today, the Galatians had accepted Christ as Lord but where not living in the ways of God or inquiring from the Lord.

While some christians get caught up in false doctrines because of ignorance, some choose it for personal gain either spiritually, emotionally or financially while yet others are forced into it by trickery and wickedness. These factors or interests interfere with and pevert their discerning faculties into accepting anything that seems spiritual as of God when it is actually the devil and his team masquerading as angels of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). This is what has brought falsehoods and doctrines of devils into the Church even today. It is all rooted in curious imaginations and sensuality. These are works of the flesh that seek to edify the body and not the spirit. Paul instructs the body of Christ to nip this problem at the level of knowledge indicating that it is the attainment of certain knowledge leading to imaginations that misleads people from true worship of God. In 2 Corinthians 10:5-6, the apostle writes,

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”

Therefore, it remains for the christian to win the war by obedience to God himself, the one true God,

For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge:

1 Corinthians 8:5-7

I have seen people make gods of anything that seems to possess deep knowledge, secret knowledge and even biblical knowledge e.g pastors, prophets, white/red garment prophets, n’angas, seers, fortune tellers, astrologers etc. Some have gone the extra mile and worshipped their religious acts or abilities e.g prayer or spiritual warfare so-called putting their faith in the ‘act’ and not in God. Furtherstill, idolatry has been evident in the negative emotions people harbour e.g rejection, bitterness, rebellion, unforgiveness, anger and even pride etc all of which make an individual their own god and final authotiry in their life.

James declared that resisting the devil would certainly cause him to flee (James 4:7). My encouragement to you today is to focus on wisdom from above which God will and can only confirm because it is his Word not wisdom from the earth (elementary spirits precisely- occult, apostolic sects, witchcraft, black or white magic etc) which has been destined to fail by the maker and owner of all things. He ordained it to fail, it therefore cannot be trusted or feared ( I Corinthians 1:19-20). It is defeated wisdom and the believer who knows who they worship should not be intimidated by it or it’s miracles and wonders. A concerntation on the works of darkness, a fear of it amounts to a belief thereof and God turns his back on such, then the Christian wonders why things are not working…Choose light, believe, light and live in the light. Christ the wisdom of God reigns! Worship the creator not the creation!

Greeting Conquerors, in this post we continue the series on Other gods. In part 1, we looked at matters of religion and the confusion therein. This time we look at the basis for existence of other so called gods in history.

The story of creation is very clear on how it all began. Out of nothingness, the word of God called forth things that were not into existence. Genesis 1 and John 1 are very clear on this. So all things where created by God and all things are his. In Colossians the Apostle Paul gives an excellent summary of this fact when talking about Jesus Christ the King,

“Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.”

Colossians 1:15-20

So God is sovereign, all things are his and all things were made by him including the devil and whatever instruments and mediums of his worship he has availed to mankind. A breeze through the Old Testament will reveal the struggle of mankind in the area of religion. Where once God had turned a blind eye on pagan worship and let man worship all kinds of things, his decision to make himself known and give a new commandment that he alone be worshipped as was the original plan brought a lot of confusion and resistance. In the book of Acts, Paul writes,

“Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead”

(Acts 17:29-31)

Today we see this confusion in that man would rather continue with other gods than follow Jesus. He was sent to redeem mankind back to his God by the power of the cross and resurrection. That blood that was shed means that all of mankind is now reconciled with his maker by faith. Believing the work of the cross means entry into eternal life and oneness with God. This is the simplicity in Christ- to believe (2 Corinthians 11.3). The power is in the word and accessed by faith only. There are no rituals or religious acts to qualify. It is obedience which is anchored by belief that seals the relationship and adoption. Unfortunately, it is not as easy as it sounds. This confusion can be traced back to the challenge of familiarity where it is generally factual that humans resist change and are happier following their old ways even as Jesus declares,

“And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.”

Luke 5:36-39

This has always been the hindrance to true worship throughout the old testament into the new. We see cycles of deliverance in the bible in which everytime the people fell into idolatry because they sought to worship what they could see and relate with, God punished them in his anger until they cried out to him. Ofcourse as the merciful God he is, everytime they cried out he would hear them and send a deliverer and things would return to nomalcy. Then it would take a new ruler to introduce another kind of religion and the cycle would begin. It generally becomes apparent in observing these happenings especially in the book of Judges that there is wisdom in the world that the curiosity of man taps into and begins to worship in desperate efforts to connect with the unknown maker. A true and aunthentic connection with God is through Jesus and a complete refusal to validate or walk in the knowledge of elementary spirits or other gods.

Ancient traditions rely on this available wisdom obtained from the elements e.g earth, water, wind and fire. The spirits attached to these elements are known as elementary spirits. These are the devil’s weapon to use to lure people into idolatry. He is the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2.2) and it is gross human error and an abomination to God to seek for signs and hidden knowledge from the devil. When the devil revealed all of the world in a flash to Jesus in and attempt to lure him by his supposed power to reveal hidden treasures or things, the response of our Lord is significant. He just told him the truth of the Word- we are to worship God only and serve him alone! The devil as the ruler of this world has made gods of the elements of the universe, seducing mankind into seeing these as God because of his ability to reveal knowledge and perform signs and wonders. Unfortunately, it pleased God that even in that worldly wisdom, people could not know God but only through the the preaching of the Word-the true wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:21). Scripture declares that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom.

Moreover, true wisdom was with God before creation, was used to create (Proverbs 8:22-31) which translates to wisdom being the Word which was with God in the beginning ( John 1:1-2) and then became flesh-Jesus himself ( John 1:14). If man seeks Jesus, they find wisdom. Man is made with a hunger for his maker’s wisdom. It appears that the mode of accessing God’s wisdom is what brings about different religions. The devil knows that man is more inclined to seeing and knowing secrets. This he has carefully and cunningly packaged into other gods so as to lead man astray. There are many different gods and goddesses across religions, nations and cultures. As the devil would have it, there is a god or deity that will suit any kind of mindset perfectly in a way that will make the individual buy in and worship with all of their heart and soul. These deities lead people groups that believe in them and seek answers from them.

As such, the idea of the existence of other gods simply means that the line is very thin between good and evil, faith and fear, love and hate as well as belief and unbelief in God Almighty through Jesus.

Thank you for reading this post. Join me in part 3 as we conclude the series by returning to the sovereignty of God the creator.
